Repeated work journeys gradually open into private rituals, familiar neighbourhoods, and another way of looking.

Japan entered Alicia’s life first through frequent work travel in 2023. Professional visits accumulated, then overlapped with journeys of her own. Tokyo and Osaka stopped behaving like single destinations; each return added another neighbourhood, another rhythm, another reason to look beyond the original itinerary.

She writes about Roppongi’s precision, an almost-empty Sensō-ji at 6:30 in the morning, animation drawings, gardens, and streets shaped by careful design. Against Mount Fuji, the profile feels less like arrival than a pause between journeys—the point at which obligation has already opened into personal discovery.

Repetition can turn a destination into a relationship.
